Test results on the cylinders under indirect tension revealed that the cylinders reinforced with perforated plates provide significant increase in stiffness and cracking strength as compared to unreinforced and hoop reinforced cylinders. The results on beams indicated the capability ofplates as longitudinal reinforcement in tension to acquire acceptabL strength at levels of cracking, yielding of plate, and ultimate strength and also to provide considerable ductility. Also, tests on beams reinforced with lap-spliced steel plates showed a reduced lap-splice length for tranMerringforce in adjacent plates as compared to that obtained in ACI code for ordinary reinforcing steel bars.
